What should we wear?
Wool underneath — 100% merino is best, two layers when it's really cold — plus windproof jacket and trousers, warm shoes, thick gloves and a beanie. Missing something warm? We lend long jackets, warm suits and foot bags for free — just arrive a little early.
Do we steer the sleds ourselves?
Yes! Two per sled — one steers, one rides, and you swap halfway. Under 13, or rather just ride? Sit on with your partner — or with a guide if you're travelling alone. Just tell us in advance.
Is the price per sled or per person?
Per person — so a price you see for a departure covers everyone in your party, not one sled. Two of you share a sled and swap halfway, so you both get a go at driving. Would someone rather sit in the sled and just enjoy the ride? Very welcome, and the price is the same. Children aged 7 to 12 pay the child price, and under 7 come along free.
Do you have snow?
Sjusjøen is one of Norway's most snow-safe places — sleds usually run November to early May. If early December surprises us, you choose: a tour on wheels, a new date, or your money back.
When should we arrive?
10–15 minutes before your time. The dogs are harnessed and ready to run — arriving late risks missing your tour.
Can children join?
Yes — this is a family activity at heart. Children under 13 ride while an adult steers. From 7 they pay the child price, and under 7 come along free. We'll be honest that the very youngest often get cold and get less out of the trip, but if they want to come they are most welcome. Just book together with an adult, and tell us in the comment field how many small children are joining.
Can I join while pregnant?
Yes — we don't go fast, and you choose whether to steer or ride. Just follow the instruction beforehand about how and when to slow down.
Do you run in all weather?
Absolutely — tough conditions only make it more memorable. Should the weather ever be too extreme (it hasn't happened yet), we contact you the day before with a new time.
Paying with a gift card?
Book as usual and enter the code in the checkout: the amount comes off before you pay, and if it covers the whole tour you just confirm. Gift cards bought through our old booking system do not work here. Email ida@huskytours.no with the code and the time you want, and we book it for you.
Is there a pick-up service?
No pick-up, but weekend buses stop at Sjusjøen Skisenter — a 3 km walk from us. Team up with fellow passengers, or give us a call if you're stuck and we'll try to find a solution.
How do we find you?
We’re at Finnolkoia, between Mesnali and Sjusjøen — two hours from Oslo. Don’t rely on GPS alone: some roads here are closed in winter. Our
road description has the right route from every direction, plus bus options.
Can I change or cancel?
Of course — plans change. Email us as early as you can: free rebooking and full refund until 7 days before, 50% fee inside 7 days, no refund inside 3 days. Full details in our
terms & conditions.
